What materials do you need to make scented candles at home?

To make scented candles, you just need some simple ingredients and a few essential items that you might already have in your home or can easily find in the market.

Soy Wax Flakes: Our candles use soy wax, which is a natural and eco-friendly option. This wax burns cleanly and produces very little soot, which has no negative impact on indoor air quality. It is completely non-toxic, so you can enjoy it without any worries.

Natural Hemp Wicks: Commonly available candle wicks can release harmful gases such as butane when burned. That’s why we use wicks made from 100% natural hemp in our candles, which are both safe and sustainable.

Essential Oils for Fragrance: In each candle we mix a blend of high-quality essential oils – like lavender, grapefruit, or eucalyptus – which not only create a soothing aroma but also uplift your mood. Approximately 100 drops of oil are used for a strong and long-lasting scent.

Things you need:

Glass container or mason jar:
You’ll need a heat-safe container to make your candles in. You can use any glass jar or old mason jar – they look nice and are safe.

A disposable tool for stirring:
Since melted wax can easily stick to things, use a stirring tool that can be thrown away later  like an old spoon or wooden stick.

Chopstick or pencil to hold the wick:
You can place a thin, light tool like a chopstick or pencil on top to keep the wick straight while you pour the wax. This is a perfect use for those extra chopsticks that often come with delivery.

How to Make Candles at Home Steps By Steps

Today I am sharing with you my favorite home tips, with the help of which you can easily make fragrant natural candles (with essential oils) These are the same fragrant candles that make the atmosphere of your home soothing!

Step 1: Melt the wax

First, heat a deep vessel over medium heat by adding some water. Then place another small vessel (such as a steel or heat-safe bowl) on top of it. In this upper vessel, add your soy wax flakes. Now keep stirring the wax slowly so that it melts properly without burning. Be careful – do not keep the wax on high flame, otherwise it can burn and its fragrance can also be spoiled.

Step 2: Add Essential Oils

When the wax is completely melted and cools down a bit (not too hot), then add essential oil to it. If you want, you can choose fragrances like lavender, lemon, sandalwood, or eucalyptus. About 100 drops or 1–2 teaspoons are enough for fragrance, so that when the candle burns the fragrance spreads throughout the room.

Tip: If you want more fragrance, you can increase the amount of oil a little.

Step 3: Put the wick in the jar

Now place the wick in the center of the jar or container in which you want to make the candle. You can use a chopstick, pencil or scale to keep the wick upright and in the center.  Wrap the wick in them and rest it on the jar from both ends so that the wick does not move.

Tip: If the wick slips from the bottom, you can stick it by applying a little wax at the bottom.

Step 4: Pour the melted wax into the jar

Now carefully pour the melted wax into the prepared jar. Pour slowly so that the wick remains in its place. Leave a little empty instead of filling the jar completely – it is good to leave 1 cm of space at the top so that the candle does not overflow.

Caution: The melted wax is very hot, keep it away from children and work carefully.

Step 5: Let the wax solidify

Place the jar on a flat place where there is less chance of it moving. Now leave the candle like this for at least 4 to 6 hours so that it completely sets. If kept in a cold place, it sets quickly, but keeping it in the fridge can cause bubbles, so it is best to let it set in a normal room.

Step 6: Cut the wick and give finishing

When the candle is completely set and cools down, then cut the wick from the top. The height should be about 1 cm so that there is no problem in lighting it. Now your candle is ready to burn!

Extra Tip: If the top surface seems uneven, then you can smooth it with a little hot air (hair dryer).

Now your candle is ready!

You can use it in your living room, bedroom, place of worship or as a gift.

It is completely natural, beautiful and fragrant.

Common scanted candle making mistakes – and how to avoid them

1. Adding too much or too little fragrance
If you add too much essential oil, the candle will not burn properly. If you add too little, the fragrance will not come out at all. Be sure to use the correct amount.

2. Choosing the wrong wick
Wick sizes vary from wax to container. The wrong wick can cause smoke or a burning sensation.

3. Heating the wax too much
Wax can burn at too high a temperature, which can lead to a loss of fragrance and color.

4. Not preparing the container
If you pour wax without setting the wick properly, it can become tilted and the candle will not burn properly.

5. Not being patient
Wax takes time to set and harden. If you rush, the surface of the candle can be damaged.
